I have found your podcasts interesting and informative on financial aspects of our working lives that we were not taught about. I agree with you, Financial Health should be on the medical school curriculum. The reason I have given it four starts is indirectly linked with the podcast. The advisor recommended via your site has called me once and since receiving the information from NHS pensions agency (which took a few weeks because this is how long it takes to get the paperwork these days) has not replied any of my emails or returned calls. I am obviously disappointed. Could you please ask the financial advisers who agree to be contacted to be committed to the process. Thank you for your time and energy.

I found the podcasts a great first step to give me ideas for things that I could then later look at more closely - and how amazing that the team have put together so many resources that then make these subsequent steps way easier! Aimed at medics, they offer sensible advice relating to issues medics face. I have found Medics Money to be very helpful in identifying suitable medical accountancy firms who can provide expert information on my complex financial needs. The website is easy to navigate and has lots of useful information which instils confidence. I was contacted very promptly by one of the recommended firms who gave me some important advice on NHS Pensions. I am still waiting to hear from the accountants but I understand that this is a very busy period for them with lots of interest from doctors based on the new pension rules. My experience with Bracey's was not a good one. The positives are they are prompt. The negatives are that they made numerous, quite major errors for example pulling incorrect numbers from SOLO forms underestimating my income by 20k and not querying with me why my submitted numbers were so different, repeatedly claiming for car travel when I don't own a car and clearly stated that (imagine arguing that in court). Having changed accountants, they immediately noticed that my pension had been put through incorrectly so I'll have another tax bill this year, my NI was incorrect and Bracey's hadn't picked up that I wasn't registered as self-employed, so yet another tax bill. Honestly, these guys are cheap - but you get what you pay for.

Being based in the Midlands, I was recommended a local accountant that many of my colleagues use. After a year, I was deflated until I had spoken with Nipun. I was desperately looking for a good accountant with specialist expertise in NHS pensions when the first brown envelope bearing the AA tax bill arrived in the post. Thank God I found Nipun and her team at Bracey's through Medics Money. I will be forever indebted to both for helping me make sense of the complexities involved with NHS pensions. I completely trust Nipun to advise me what is right and appropriate at a given time. Whether it is an email or a telephone call, I am guaranteed to get a response within the hour. With respect to tax returns, I am warned well in advance of the information I need to provide them and in some cases also tips on where and how to get it from. What more can I ask for? My only regret is I didn't find them earlier.
